Evening Primrose Oil

Yellow evening primrose flowers used in botanical skin care

Evening primrose oil is a light, pale golden oil with a soft, nutty scent. Ours is organic, cold pressed and grown in Canada, and it’s one of the richest plant sources of GLA we work with.

What is evening primrose?

Evening primrose is a wildflower native to North America, named for its pale yellow blossoms that open in the evening. The oil is cold pressed from its tiny seeds, and it has long been valued in traditional herbal care.

Evening primrose oil benefits for skin

Evening primrose oil is especially rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid that helps support the skin’s natural barrier. GLA helps skin hold on to moisture and feel soft, supple and comfortable.

Its naturally occurring plant compounds also provide antioxidant support, while its light texture makes it a gentle choice for dry, sensitive or mature skin.

How to use evening primrose oil

Evening primrose oil works well in facial creams, serums and oils. Apply products with evening primrose after cleansing and after any water-based mist, or add a drop of the oil to your usual moisturizer.

Evening primrose oil in Twigroot skin care

Our evening primrose oil is organic, cold pressed and Canadian grown.

It’s one of the key nourishing oils in our Nourish Facial Cream, bringing its GLA to a rich cream made for dry or mature skin. It also joins our blend of berry oils in Radiance Antioxidant Serum, helping keep skin feeling supple and comfortable.

We source our evening primrose oil from Canadian growers and have chosen it for both its quality and naturally high GLA content. It’s exactly the kind of plant oil we love working with at Twigroot: grown close to home, cold pressed and selected for a meaningful role in the finished formula.
