Mango Butter

Mango butter is a pale, creamy butter with almost no scent of its own. It melts at skin temperature and sinks in smoothly, which makes it one of the lightest-feeling butters we work with.

What is mango butter?

Mango butter is pressed from the large seed, or kernel, at the centre of the mango fruit. It’s solid at room temperature but softens as soon as it touches warm skin, and it feels less heavy than many other plant butters.

Mango butter benefits for skin

Mango butter is rich in fatty acids along with naturally occurring vitamins A and E, which help protect skin from everyday environmental stress. It’s deeply moisturizing and helps skin hold on to moisture, leaving it supple and comfortable without a greasy feel. Its soft, smooth texture makes it especially useful in creams and balms where you want nourishment without a heavy finish.

How to use mango butter

Mango butter is most often found in creams, balms and body butters. On its own, a small amount warmed between your fingers can be smoothed over dry elbows, hands, heels or lips.

Mango butter in Twigroot skin care

We love mango butter. Many commercial creams rely on fatty alcohols and other functional ingredients to create structure and texture, while we often use natural plant butters to give our creams their body and richness. It’s one of the ways we stay true to our values of using carefully chosen ingredients for you and your skin, and mango butter is at the heart of almost every cream we make.

It gives our Light Facial Cream its soft, breathable body and adds lasting moisture to our Nourish Facial Cream, while it helps our Borage Eye Cream stay light and smooth around the eyes.

Mango butter melts slowly into the skin in our Hydrating Night Cream and brings richness to our Night Balm for overnight nourishment.

For the body, it’s part of the velvety base of our Blossom Body Cream and Summer Nights Body Cream, and it helps our Herbiary Hand Cream sink in without any greasy feel.
